Up and off like a herd of turtles again before 8:00 this morning. As we drove it was notable how the vegetation was changing. We went from scraggy, dry deserts with thousands of windmills (it makes our windmills look like nothing) to lush green countryside with flowering tree- oranges, walnuts, almonds - and grapevines. There have also been numerous signs concerning the California water situation such as NO WATER = NO JOBS.
We continue to see many trains as we cross the country and think of the grandsons who love trains. While Ron has been busy driving I've spent my time looking up directions for the next leg of our trip, making reservations or checking for reasonable hotels, and doing some research on the places that we will be visiting. Thank goodness for my iPhone - I'm surprised I haven't burned it out yet.
It was a picture perfect day at Yosemite and as such we'll let them do the talking.
We'll say goodnight with a quote from John Muir "Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." Yosemite was our transcendent church experience today.
Arrived in San Francisco at 9:00PM - another 550 miles today. The Grayline tour tomorrow.
Absolutely magnificent! It just leaves me speechless sometimes to see All the beauty that God created.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like I could/should live without my iPhone, but having it while driving across the country in 2011 was soooo useful. Yosemite looks beautiful, and you guys look great!
ReplyDeleteAnd there is a really bad drought in California right now. It has hardly rained all winter!
