Day 3 - Pittsburgh to Charlotte

Awoke to find out that Mother Nature had  been at it again. Schools were closed, roads not great and Pittsburgh was out of salt. We had a nice breakfast though and reluctantly said our goodbyes to the Ashbridges. Didn't get on the road until 10 but by then the roads were a bit better. We did pass some cars off the road and one on its roof but it wasn't bad when we left and the roads and weather improved as we moved south. It was an 8 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Charlotte so most of the day was spent in the car.  Better get use to that as we'll be spending a lot of car time over the next few weeks.  Arrived in Charlotte around 6. What a strange feeling getting out of the car with the temperature  a glorious 65.  Considering the winter we've had in the north country it was almost a shock to the system. I had shed my Ugg boots in Virginia but looked foolish in a turtleneck and vest. Let's hope it's warm weather from here on out.

We drove through West Virginia

and Virginia

through the mountains

through Downtown Charlotte

and finally to Lou and Judy's house - notice the remnants of snow!
