On the road before 8:00 with the temperature 68 already. I think I could get used to this. Ran into some heavy rain this morning on the way to Greensboro but it lasted only until Winston Salem. We are on Rt. 40 West now and will stay on this until we reach California. Today we covered North Carolina, Tennessee and got into Arkansas. It only seemed appropriate that we listened to some country music on the way - not usually our favorite - old classics like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and more modern country such as Zach Brown Band for Eric.

And we even were passed by someone in western Tennessee who had an F. X. Caprara license plate.
Drove 13 hours ....almost 900 miles. Stopped 4 times for either a stretch break (bathroom) or gas. Our mpg has ranged between 25 in the mountains and 28.6 in the flat lands of Tennessee. Arrived in Forrest City at 7:45 Central time. We gained an hour by going into the next time zone. We crossed the Mississippi River and then stopped to eat at Old Saw Mill Cafe for some good southern cooking.

That's all for today. We hope to reach Albuquerque tomorrow. It's Manhattan time after Ron's long day of driving and Sue's navigational skills ...only got lost once! Cheers!

Sue, correction - you are both retired and on vacation, so there is No such thing as "getting lost", it's called an "unplanned adventure". Have fun! And continue to post pics, we Love going on road trips with you! :)
