Hawaiian Adventure - Day 4- Saturday, October 25, 2014

We were up at 4 a.m. Yes, you heard that right - even Ron. The Maui Jim was shoving off at 5:30 and we had a 45 minute drive to the harbor. Our bodies are still trying to adjust to the 6 hour time difference so we are really throwing them off. The boat that we are going fishing on is the 57 foot corporate boat of the Maui Jim Company, which sells high end sunglasses. I have to admit that I had never heard of the brand but I guess it is a household word on the west coast. Jason's uncle Tom is the boat's Captain -for the past 30 years - and he invited us for a fishing trip. Jason's father (KC) and his step mother Linda joined us.  The "boat" is lovely to put it mildly and we had a very successful day. We -Jason and Ron caught 2 onos (wahoo) that were between 22 and 25 lbs. each.  Christine, Ron and Linda each caught a mahi mahi. Beside the good fishing day we also enjoyed the beautiful views of Maui and Molokai - Father Damien's old haunts and were even treated to a beautiful double rainbow. Before leaving Lahaina we stopped for a quick picture of the famed Banyan Tree - this is one tree. Then we returned home at 11:30 a.m. - it seemed as if it should have been night time already but when you catch your first fish by 6:30AM that's bound to happen. They say the early bird catches the worm but in this case it is fish. Came home and took naps and relaxed by the pool. Had our fresh catch of the day on the grill for an early dinner. Tomorrow we will take a day long trip on the Road to Hana.
