Hawaiian Adventure - Day 9 - October 30, 2014

The Wedding Day

Jacquie, Sam, Debbie and Dave came over to our condo this morning to check out where we were staying. We are only about a mile and a half away from them. We made plans to have breakfast here tomorrow morning so we went out and did some shopping for the necessary ingredients for our meal. After that it was shower time again in preparation for the wedding of Josh and Mariko. We had to meet other wedding party guests at the Westin Resort and Spa at 3:45 so we left the condo at 3. That gave us plenty of time to see the Westin before we headed off to the wedding venue. We took the shuttle provided and headed off to the mountains with wonderment.  And wonderment it was... probably the nicest wedding venue we have ever seen except for maybe Salvatore's Italian Garden circa 1976 and our wedding site.  But that historical sidebar aside this place was incredible.  The "house" where it was held had an infinity pool, a waterfall, lovely covered patios and an acre of lush greenery.  We were greeted by the sweet sounds of a harpist. The wedding was held outdoors with a traditional Hawaiian ceremony.  In lieu of a cloth runner going down the grassy aisle, there were 1000's of flower petals strewn by the flower girl.  The bride wore a designer gown by Monique Lhuillier.   The bridesmaids were also elegantly adorned with this designer.  The men were dressed like beach bums - only kidding they were all very handsome in their tuxedos.  Both Josh and Mariko wore traditional leis as did both sets of parents.  It was a beautiful ceremony.

Afterwards we headed off to another part of the magnificent property for appetizers and a sumptuous meal. People had Macadamia crusted chicken, seared Ahi, or beef tenderloin which all were delicious. The tables were aglow with floating candles and special goodie bags for each guest. There was the traditional cake cutting, a round of musical chairs, good music and some dancing. Everyone had an incredible time witnessing the beautiful ceremony of commitment made by two young people in love. I am including some pictures from the wedding with the permission of the happy couple but I'm sure they don't do justice to the event.
